Hello and welcome to Finders Keepers, my name is Lil' John and I have been detecting for over 34 years. In those years I have metal detected all over the world and still love the thrill of the hunt and the unearthing of things of the past. I'm so connected to this hobby and I honestly give my opinions and any help needed to keep this past time living. In selling any detector it must fit the persons needs and physical attributes of that person. You need not buy the most expensive detector to fully enjoy this hobby, just one that fits you, your pocket and what style hunting you plan on doing. Most people can pay for their equipment in the first year, but yet it is not the monetary value, it is the many relationships and friends you make along the way to success in the discovery. When I started this hobby in 1977 I have no idea what would be the outcome. I started hunting the water back then before most thought of it and to dig less than a dozen gold rings a day was a really bad day. Yes it was just terrific but that has changed but they are still loss everyday at the beaches. My other love is Relic hunting and it has also made me appreciate what those troops endured and to find that part of history so elusive in order to find those relics.

It seems today this hobby has its most numbers in people over 40 years of age. Our younger folks are more tuned into the internet and the game boxes. If this hobby is to exist we must all take a part to interest the younger folks and give them that thrill of finding our past. Once they realize their other skills can be a gold mine of information and wealth, in seeking information that is out there on the web that they know so well to make great discoveries.
